SAMPLE STUDENT EVALUATIONS
PHOTOJOURNALISM: REPRESENTING THE WORLD THROUGH MAGAZINES
COMMUNICATION STUDIES 488, SPRING 2012
"I thought that Edward was the best instructor that I've had at UM and I'm a senior. He was enthusiastic about the topic, he knew his material well and he was more than willing to help. He's also awesome in general and the entire layout of the class and the atmosphere/student interactions could have been boring without him teaching. I've heard he's a tough grader, but he's more than fair. Everything handed back accurately reflected what he expects of you."
"I loved the final project because we were actually able to apply what we have learned in the class to something we could use for the future."
"I liked how we got to look at each magazine as the case studies and got to apply our knowledge when we made the photojournalistic essay"
"I loved the final project I thought it was great that we got to make a photo spread on our own. It allowed us to be creative and use what we learned this semester."
"final project was great -- real-world experience"
"The notes on the whiteboard were very helpful and made it easy to take away the main points from each reading."
"Lectures were great, using the erase board was a helpful tool!"
"The readings were probably my favorite part, especially the case studies of magazines! No changes!"
"The second exam was rather long, but I thought the format of each exam was an appropriate way to cover the material." Note from Edward: I completely agree that the second exam was long (as other students commented)--the next time this format is used, the exam will be modified and shortened.
